SOFI Analysis of Collaboration Opportunities: International Collaboration on Services and Cloud R&D
Public page at FISA wiki: [1]
International Collaboration is identifying existing and potential contacts for collaboration between EU researchers and their counterparts elsewhere in the world, around Future Internet topics.
We invite projects to add here their international contacts, with whom they believe a further collaboration within the context of the Future Internet initiative of the EU would be desirable.
This means concretely, that these contacts may be used in the future for invitation to EU-supported international events (like [2]), to special sessions of the Future Internet Assembly, to contribute to EU Future Internet documents, etc. with the view of aligning different views and activities on the Future Internet, exchange insights and visions, and to co-ordinate in areas of common interest.

- in FP6 the QualiPSo project on Open Source established a lot of international collaboration with Japan, China and Brazil and by creating an International Summit of Open Source Competence Centres which see the involvement of actors from India, South Africa and America
- FIRST: Implementing cooperation on Future Internet and ICT Components between Europe and Latin America (http://www.latin-american-technology-platforms.eu/). We are a creation Technology Platforms (similar to European Technology Platforms -NEM, NESSI, Net!Works, etc.-) around the theme "Future Internet" in five countries in Latin America. Our partners in Latin America are:
- UNIVERSIDADE DE SAO PAULO (Brazil)
- INSTITUTO TECNOLOGICO Y DE ESTUDIOS SUPERIORES DE MONTERREY (Mexico)
- Centro de Investigacion de las Telecomunicaciones CINTEL (Colombia)
- Futura Networks do Brasil Consultoria Lda (Brazil)
- FEDERACION DE ASOCIACIONES DE LATINOAMERICA EL CARIBE Y ESPANA DE ENTIDADES DE TECNOLOGIAS DE LA INFORMACION (Regional federation representing LatAm)
As part of the Project activities we are also developing a joint EU-LatAm strategy for cooperation in Future Internet, including a joint EU-LatAm Vision document that will be followed by a common strategic research agenda and a collaboration roadmap. All the Latin American technology platforms have been very recently created (last months of 2010 or beginning 2011) and it is expected that after the summer 2011 all the platforms will already have a strategic research agenda that could be presented.
- International Cooperation action INSPIRE INCO (http://www.inspire-inco.eu/).
In this project, which we have coordinated, we had international collaboration in place (meaning extra EU, specifically from the US) but the project ended a few months ago. The specific objective of our collaboration with the US partners was to link EC-funded research on Critical Infrastructure Protection to NSF-funded initiatives. We would be interested in presenting this initiative in an open workshop organized after the Summer. We would also be interested in writing a joint chapter with our international partner\contact at the next FIA book.
- MASSIF (http://www.massif-project.eu/). CINI (Naples, Italy) is the partner who has been in charge of representing the project at the Canada-EU Future Internet Workshop which was
organized by the Commission in March in Waterloo (Canada). As a result of our participation in the workshop, Bell Canada has officially joined MASSIF Advisory Board, and is actively contributing to the project. If this is of interest, we would be glad to present this initiative in an open workshop organized after the Summer. We would also be interested in writing a joint chapter with our international partner\contact at the next FIA book.
